A few years ago, I tried to get a job but failed.
Despite my skills, I failed to convince employers via online applications that I could add value.
The competition was tough.
It changed when someone referred me for an opportunity
This person knew me and trusted in my skills and ability to deliver.
They referred me, and I landed my dream role.
Just like that.
The whole process took less than two weeks since it was a referral.
The interview was very informal, too.
It was a win-win because the recruiter didn’t have to shortlist and interview many candidates for the position.
When I finally joined the organisation, I listened closely as my colleagues shared how they got their jobs.
It turns out that no one applied online.
None.
They either approached the organisation directly or got referred for the job.
After hearing this story, I imagine how many job seekers apply to jobs using the wrong strategies because they lack quality information.
They waste so much time because they don’t have a trusted network of career evangelists.
